The Water Security Agency has more than 60 key water infrastructure projects it is working on in this fiscal year, to make sure there is a reliable water supply for the province.

A news release from the SMA says of the $42 million budgeted, nearly $17 million is being invested in six major projects. They are substation upgrades to the East Side Pumpstation at Lake Diefenbaker, fishway bulkheads and lifting system for the Craven Dam, spillway upgrades at the Moosomin Dam, emergency spillway upgrades at Buffalo Pound Dam, and two projects at Gardiner Dam – public safety and operator safety upgrades.

Other dam infrastructure projects are planned for Cumberland House, Meadow Lake, Outlook, Humboldt-Watrous, Regina and Saskatoon among others.

Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association President, Randy Goulden, says the investment in upgrading water infrastructure is appreciated. They are crucial to ensuring can enjoy a sustainable supply of water, especially during times of drought.
