Saskatchewan RCMP say every missing person has a story and wants to promote that message during Missing Persons Week.
Last year, 2,553 people were reported missing to provincial RCMP detachments. Of the 550 men, 450 women and 1,150 youth reported missing in 2023, three remain unaccounted for.
RCMP are highlighting the missing persons cases of Kristopher Billette of the Buffalo River Dene First Nation, Byron Watson of Maple Creek and William “Micheal” Neuman of Canora.
There are a number of things police need to know when a missing persons report is filed. An officer will ask for the following (if available):
- their name and age
- their physical description, including:
- hair and eye colour
- height
- weight
- distinguishing marks or features
- what they were last seen wearing
- when and where they were last seen
- a recent photograph
You can file a missing person report for someone who has been reported missing before.
You don’t need to be a relative to file a report. Anyone who knows the missing person well enough can file a report with the RCMP or local police.
