Statistics Canada reports over the last 12 months, there was an overall decline of 91 businesses in Saskatchewan.
According to the provincial NDP, Saskatoon lost a net total of 30 businesses, Regina dropped 8 with the remaining 53 located in the rest of the province.
NDP Leader Carla Beck says the government is selling out Saskatchewan one industry at a time, pointing specifically to Shercom in Saskatoon.
The company said it had been assured a supply of tires by the provincial government but said that promise was broken when a contract was awarded to a California-based company. Shercom says that decision led to over 60 job losses.
