Civic elections in Saskatchewan are about six months away, just weeks after the provincial election, but the City of Saskatoon is asking residents to register or update their provincial voter information this month. that’s because Elections Saskatoon has a partnership with Elections Saskatchewan.
Returning Officer for Elections Saskatoon and Deputy Clerk for the City of Saskatoon, Shellie Bryant, explains that City Council approved a new election modernization strategy last May, which includes the use of a registered voters list for the municipal election and entering into an information-sharing agreement with Elections Saskatchewan.
At the end of this month, the voter registration data that Elections Saskatchewan has collected for Saskatoon residents will be shared with Elections Saskatoon. Bryant says, “The partnership supports Saskatoon’s modernized and secure civic election, as well as providing for a better experience for the voters at the polls. So, we anticipate that voters, because they aren’t filling out the paper forms, the registration will be faster, and it will be a better experience for all.”
The provincial election is Monday, October 28th. Wednesday, November 13th is for urban municipalities and for reeves and councilors in odd numbered divisions in rural municipalities. Those in even numbered divisions will vote in 2026. As in previous provincial and civic elections, you can still register at the polls on election day.
