The Government of Saskatchewan says Statistics Canada’s numbers indicate there was an almost 16 per cent increase in building permits in March, compared to March of 2023, which is well above the national average, which is a decrease of just over 15 per cent. Trade and Export Development Minister states that the rise in permits demonstrates the confidence that individuals and industry have in making long-term investments in this province.
However, if you compare Saskatchewan to its neighbours, the value of building permits in March for Alberta was $1.28 billion, and in Manitoba it was $296.5 million. In Saskatchewan, the value of permits was $152 million in March.
