Just before 5:30 Monday morning, Saskatoon police responded to reports of a fight involving a weapon in the 1000 block of Idylwyld Drive North. One person had a bat and it was reported the other was bleeding. A man was witnessed carrying a bat and police say the suspect fled on foot, throwing the bat at officers before being caught and arrested a few blocks away.
The victim, a 61-year-old man, was transported to hospital what what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A 30-year-old man is facing charges related to aggravated assault, carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
