The RCMP has announced it is adding the ribbon skirt to the force’s uniform intended to help “build and mend relationships with Indigenous people and communities.”
In a news release the RCMP say the Commissioner approved the addition of the RCMP Ribbon Skirt to be worn by Indigenous Regular Members as part of the uniform.
The Ribbon Skirt can be worn along with the Eagle Feather and Métis Sash. The news release says the colours which are yellow, red, blue and white, among some Indigenous communities represent the four directions, and they also represent RCMP colours.
