From one extreme to another, from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon for, both, the Saskatoon Berries and Lethbridge Bulls.
After the Berries won their first-ever home game at Cairns Field by a 16-10 score Saturday night, Lethbridge responded with a 3-1 triumph in front of 1,823 fans Sunday afternoon. The result leaves Saskatoon with a 2-6 record as they get set to play three straight games against the Moose Jaw Miller-Express – Tuesday and Wednesday in Moose Jaw, plus Thursday night at Cairns Field. The Berries looked like they were going to pick up Sunday where they left off on Saturday as designated hitter and lead-off man Bailyn Sorenson doubled on the first pitch he saw from Bulls’ starting pitcher Cole Aguirre and came home on a sacrifice fly by Saskatoon product and right fielder Payton McHarg. But, that was all the runs the Berries could manager against Aguirre and reliever Sheamus Ryan. Lethbridge tied the score in the sixth inning and scored the winning and insurance runs in the eighth inning, all off Berries relief pitcher and Saskatoon native Cory Wouters. The Bulls got back to .500 for the season at 4-4 with the win. The first pitch Thursday for the Berries and Moose Jaw is 7 o’clock. Following are Les Lazaruk’s post-game interviews with Saskatoon head coach Joe Carnahan and McHarg plus the official box score courtesy the Western Canadian Baseball League website…..
