What started as a possible bylaw violation became a physical altercation with police. The Saskatoon Police Service says members of their Bike Unit spotted smoke coming from an area along the river in the 600 block of Spadina Crescent around 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The officers found a man and woman sitting at an open fire and they stopped to investigate a possible bylaw violation. The Saskatoon Police Service says the two became combative while being questioned and began physically assaulting the officers as well as trying to disarm them. In a news release the police describe it as a “significant struggle” before the two were taken into custody.
They are both facing charges of Assault Peace Officer and Attempt to Take Weapon. The man is also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Fentanyl and Breach of Court Conditions.
