At an event today (Tues), the Saskatoon Nutana Rotary Club handed over the third of five $20,000 payments to help Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools with the funding for the new St. Frances Cree Bilingual School building. A news release from the Rotary Club says the building is expected to open for the 2025-26 school year.
Saskatoon Nutana Rotary Club entered a Memorandum of Understanding with the school division to provide funding back in 2021. The goal of the Rotary Club is to enhance Indigenous performing arts programming at the new school and promote reclamation and revitalization of Indigenous language and culture for youth.
The new school is being built on the site of the former Sion Middle School on 7th Street East.
