The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has determined the house fire last Saturday night in North Battleford is not considered arson, saying there was no incendiary evidence located at the scene. Two days after the fire, on Monday, remains were found and later identified. The woman’s family was notified.
A news release from the RCMP says the intitial investigation from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has determined the woman’s death appears to be non-suspicious. Because both the fire and the woman’s death are not considered suspicious, the RCMP says no further updates will be provided.
The address of the fire is one of the addresses cited in the investigation into Tiki Laverdiere’s death. She was beaten and tortured at three locations before she was killed and then her body was dumped outside of North Battleford. Ten people were convicted in her killing.
