SaskPower’s President and CEO has joined the Canadian Nuclear Association’s board of directors.

In a news release, Rupen Pandya says “The nuclear industry has deep roots in Canada and has never been more important than it is today.”

The CNA works with governments on policies affecting the sector and promotes awareness of the benefits nuclear technology brings to the environment and economy.

A final decision on whether to build a SMR in Saskatchewan won’t happen until 2029 after a number of regulatory measures and assessments are made. This includes site evaluations and public consultation, with the first SMR in this province a possibility by 2032.
