While on a proactive patrol in the Onion Lake area on Saturday, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team says a vehicle passed their vehicle and then went through a stop sign. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued and a news release from the RCMP says at one point, the vehicle drove straight toward the police vehicle, which swerved to avoid being hit head-on.
The suspect vehicle, which was reported stolen in Lloydminster, was disabled by a tire deflation device, and then the two occupants fled into a nearby forested area. Multiple officers responded and the two suspects were arrested.
The charges for 40-year-old Jeffrey McLean of Lloydminster include assaulting a police officer with a weapon, dangerous driving, resisting arrest and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. Twenty-one-year-old Sadie Lameman from Onion Lake is charged with resting arrest, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and five counts of failing to comply with release order conditions. She was also arrested on 10 outstanding warrants from Kitscoty, Lloydminster and Provost RCMP.
