It has been a busy season so far for the Saskatoon tourism institution, the Prairie Lily riverboat. Captain Mike Steckhan says their tours are rain or shine, so the weather hasn’t been a hindrance. He explains that the main cabin is climate controlled and the upper deck has a waterproof canopy. In fact, he believes with a light rain, checking out the river valley takes on a new dimension, because the colours pop on the riverbank.
Steckhan says the two most common reactions he sees from passengers is the surprise at the comfort and styling of the main cabin, because many are expecting it’s just another boat, but it’s designed to look like an 1880s cruise ship. The second reaction is how interesting it is to see the city from a different vantage point. You can see the downtown, River Landing and the riverbank in a way that not everyone gets to see.
