What was known to be happening back on Sunday when the Saskatchewan Roughriders returned to practice following a bye week, was officially confirmed with Wednesday morning’s release of the Green and White’s roster and depth chart.
Shea Patterson will make his first C-F-L start at quarterback, in place of Trevor Harris and his sprained knee, with Jack Coan as the back-up and recently signed Eric Barriere on the roster as the third stringer. The 27-year-old Patterson took over from Harris in a relief role two Sundays ago against Hamilton and completed 4-of-10 pass attempts for 41 yards. He also scored a rushing touchdown on a one-yard plunge. In addition, the Riders are putting rookie Keesean Johnson in for Shawn Bane Junior at wide receiver as Bane tends to a personal matter. Frankie Hickson comes on for Thomas Bertrand-Hudon at back-up running back while linebacker Jordan Herdman-Reed and fullback Bruno LaBelle are in this week for injured linebacker Adam Auclair and defensive lineman Miles Brown. One of two teams still undefeated in the C-F-L, 3-0 Saskatchewan hosts Toronto Thursday evening at Mosaic Stadium to kick off Week 5 of the C-F-L season. The 2-1 Argos are coming off a 30-20 loss against visiting Montreal, who are 4-0.
