The Saskatchewan government is filing a court injunction for what it says is an attempt by the Canadian Revenue Agency to garnish money from the province.
Justice Minister Bronwyn Eyre made the announcement on social media, saying the federal government wants the money from the carbon tax charged on propane and natural gas for residential heating. Saskatchewan stopped collecting the tax in January, after Ottawa granted a three-year exemption on home heating oil, which is mainly used in the Maritime provinces. The Saskatchewan government says there should be a carbon tax exemption on all residential heating fuels, including propane and natural gas.
