The Moose Jaw Police Service has seen an increase in “ding, dong, ditch” otherwise called “nicky, nicky, nine doors” or “knock on ginger” pranks from adolescents.
A news release from Moose Jaw Police says reports about the doorbell pranks are happening late evening and in some instances, the early morning hours.
The warning for those committing these pranks is that officers may give you a warning if caught, but serious consequences could occur for repeat offenders, such as being criminally charged.
The Police Service is asking children and adolescents not to pull these pranks on homes and parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the ramifications of this type of prank.
As well, residents are urged to report it to police if they witness doorbell pranks.
