Despite the heat yesterday, no new weather records were set in Saskatchewan Tuesday. However, there were 14 new record highs set in Alberta and 37 set in British Columbia.
Lytton, B.C. was the hot spot in the country on Tuesday at 42.5 degrees and the hot spot in Saskatchewan was Coronach at 24.3 degrees.
A heat warning is now in effect for the entire province of Saskatchewan. Environment Canada says the heat warning is in response to daytime highs nearing the mid-thirties, combined with significant humidity and overnight lows staying in the mid-teens.
The heat wave has also pushed the threat of wildfires into Saskatchewan with 60 wildfires burning as of midday Wednesday, a significant jump in the last week and 13 of those are not contained. There have been 283 fires this year while 205 is the five-year average.
