Turtleford RCMP say they tracked down a man believed to have tampered with an electronic device that was monitoring his court ordered 24-hour curfew.
They were notified that his electronic monitoring device had been tampered with on July 9th. Their investigation led police to a home on Thunderchild First Nation and on July 11th a search warrant was executed. And it would have been a notable presence in the community involving officers from the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team, Turtleford Detachment, the RCMP Critical Incident Response Team, Police Dog Services, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. While initially refusing to exit the home, seven people were taken into custody, four were released without being charged.
Of the three others one was Donnie Okanee of whom they were looking for. The 29-year-old from Thunderchild First Nation is charged with one count resist arrest and three counts fail to comply with release order and in connection to an incident the day before he is charged with assault and uttering threats.
