Lloydminster RCMP advise that the remediation work and roadway closure in that city because of a liquid asphalt spill from an industrial vehicle will continue through mid-August. The accident happened on July 14th and then 52nd Street between 50th Avenue and 62nd Avenue were closed for remediation work.
The RCMP says crews are working to mitigate environmental damages and remove contaminated material from the site. Multiple attempts at cleaning the road and curb systems have only been partially effective, which means the impacted infrastructure will have to be replaced. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes.
All of the cleanup and remediation work is funded by those responsible for the incident.
