Swift Current Rural RCMP issued an advisory just after 7:30 Sunday night saying Highway 37 east of Gull Lake was blocked due to a train derailment and now it looks like there will be traffic issues in that area for about a week. The CPKC derailment happened about one-and-a-half kilometres east of the community with the highway’s entrance to Gull Lake blocked in both directions. RCMP say neither dangerous goods nor injuries were reported.

As of this afternoon (Tues), the Highway Hotline says the right lane is closed at Highway 1 eastbound near Highway 37. There is only one lane of traffic so be prepared to stop. The closure is expected to last until around 8 o’clock Sunday night.
