The Regina Police Service says a 50-year-old man has been charged in connection to an investigation involving sexual assault of a minor.

Police say they investigation began July 16th after its office received a report that a sixteen-year-old youth had been sexually assaulted by an adult male in the winter of 2022/23. Investigators determined the man had met the victim online before the sexual assault had taken place and they say that during his online communication with the victim he asked for sexually explicit photos and shared sexually explicit videos.

A suspect was located by police, arrested and charged on Wednesday. Cary Harold Reid of Regina was in court Thursday charged with sexual assault, making sexually explicit material available to a person under age 18, obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person under 18 and luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication.

Police say there is a possibility there are other victims. The Regina Police Service urges anyone with information regarding possible other offenses to contact Regina Police or Crime Stoppers.
