Saskatoon Police had a little help from the Onstar safety system in a vehicle theft pursuit. Around 10 o’clock Wednesday night, officers responded to a robbery in the 3500 block of 8th Street East. They were told a 56-year-old man was pulled from his vehicle in a parking lot by multiple men, and then they stole his vehicle.
Using the Onstar system, police were able to track the vehicle’s location to where it was parked in the 900 block of Central Avenue. The Police Service reports that when officers arrived, the suspects attempted to take off, but Onstar disabled the vehicle as it began to accelerate, so the suspects got out and took off. The vehicle continued to roll forward and struck three parked vehicles before stopping.
Two men, 23 and 29-years-old, were found and arrested following a brief search and have been charged with robbery.
