Sunday night’s serious collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, approximately 45 kilometres west of Moose Jaw near Mortlach, has a fatality.
A news release from Saskatchewan RCMP says a male pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene by EMS. Moose Jaw RCMP officers are working to identify the male and no further details are available at this time. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene. STARS Air Ambulance also responded to the scene. The westbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed during the initial investigation between just before 10 p.m. Sunday and shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday morning. Moose Jaw RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist. Investigators ask anyone with information, or who saw a male pedestrian in the area during Sunday evening, to contact Moose Jaw RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
