The Prince Albert Police Service says their officers dealt with a significant increase in call volume during the night shift from 6:00 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning responding to a total of 103 service calls. Those calls included 34 disturbances, 11 evictions, seven neighbourhood strengthening calls, six each of suspicious person and intoxicated persons reports, four attempted suicides, four impaired driving as well as breaches of court orders, family disputes involving violence, and welfare checks.
The shift led to 11 arrests with intoxication counting for seven of them while the rest were due to new charges and outstanding warrants.
Prince Albert Police, in a news release, commends its members’ dedication pointing out that in addition to the more than a hundred calls for services, their officers handled multiple sensitive incidents including four attempted suicides, two family disputes with violence, and one mental health incident.
