Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation CEO Steve Shannon says they are asking donors to raise $3 million. It is for a new CT scanner. He says the current CT scanner is at the end of its life, and estimated to have a year and a half left.
He says what they want for the future is less radiation and less “scatter”. He says scatter leads to less clear imaging and a new machine will also reduce radiation.
Shannon says in the end its safer for the patient, less time on the table and more people being able to access the technology who need it.
He also says when you come to get a CT scan you don’t necessarily know if anything is wrong so that’s why they are calling the campaign, “It Starts Here” because a CT scan will launch a patient to the next step on their wellness journey.
