The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team has been notified of an officer-involved death on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and is investigating. Yesterday (Sun) morning around 6:45, Shellbrook RCMP received a report of an assault on the Cree Nation and when they approached a resident, the Saskatchewan RCMP report that there was a confrontation with a man which caused officers to seek cover. The man ran into the home which had two other adults and two children inside.

The RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team was called in and during the police response, a gun was shot. The man from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation was later pronounced dead by EMS at the scene. An officer received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries during the police response.
