The Government of Saskatchewan says a recent report shows Saskatchewan’s tech sector had the largest increase in employment growth rate out of all Prairie provinces, outpacing both Alberta and Manitoba over the same period at 21.3 per cent and 29.65 per cent, respectively.
The government commissioned Derek Murray Consulting and Associates to provide the report which also shows that the tech sector accounted for 10 per cent of all job creation in the province from 2016-2023.
In a news release, Minister Responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan Jeremy Harrison said, “This substantial growth in the province’s tech sector is a direct result of government and industry working collaboratively to support innovative technologies.”
He points to entities like the Agtech Growth Fund (AGF) Co.Labs, Saskatchewan’s first technology incubator, and Cultivator’s AGTECH ACCLELERATOR. The government says the report shows the province’s tech sector experienced a 108.6 per cent increase in employment growth rate since 2019.
