The Prince Albert Police Service has made two arrests in connect to the emergency fraud scam that has been doing the rounds.
Police say during the phone interaction, the caller claims to be a family member in an emergency. They will request a large sum of money and provide the victim, often an older adult, with a password. The scammer then arranges for someone to pick up the money as well as the password.
Prince Albert Police say in response to the multiple fraudulent phone calls, the Crime Reduction Team and Proactive Policing Unit assisted with the investigation and made two arrests. Gurshan Singh, age 21, and Jasleen Kaur, age 20, both from Saskatoon appeared in Prince Albert court on charges of fraud exceeding $5000.
Police believe multiple people were involved, and the investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
