Roof replacement for the Saskatchewan Abilities Council, a new portable lift system for NorthSask Special Needs Housing, and renovations in program and bathroom spaces for Cosmo Industries – these are a few of the recipient projects for about $1.3 million in capital grant funding from the Government of Saskatchewan to help with the repair and renovation of facilities that support people with intellectual disabilities. A government news release says these renovations will ensure group homes and community facilities meet health and safety standards.
Autism Services of Saskatoon will receive capital grants to upgrade and make repairs and make their facilities more accessible. Executive Director Lynn Latta, says, the grant will go to renovations at one of their community homes, which will add value to the property, but most importantly, she says, “we know this renovation will enhance both functionality and daily enjoyment for the young men who call this house home. ”
