City Councillor Cynthia Block, who is in the running for Saskatoon Mayor, released her platform on combatting safety concerns in the community. She says it is a community driven strategy that would complement the work of the Saskatoon Police Service.
She says she’d make sure police have the resources they need but suggests the approach needs to be from the ground up ” from basic infrastructure and services to better connection to safety resources.”
Her plan includes working with residents and businesses to create neighbourhood and district safety plans, to improve communication, coordinate resources and stop crime before it happens.
She suggests a 24/7 drop-in centre for youth and new targeted programs to steer youth away from crime.
