The Saskatchewan NDP is calling out the provincial government for making a complete 180 on the idea of a nursing task force after repeatedly shutting the idea down.
Health Critic Vicki Mowat says, “If Scott Moe was serious about this policy, why has he been saying ‘no’ for years?” She notes that the decision came on Friday, just days before an election, when Health Minister Everett Hindley addressed SEIU West, CUPE, SGEU, and SUN in a letter.
The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses has been calling for a task force since at least 2022, a request the NDP says has been ignored while Scott Moe and his ministers put the health system in last place.
A release from the NDP states that Moe’s previous reason for avoiding the task was because the Sask. Party’s Health Human Resources Action Plan was working fine without it.
