The provincial NDP will partner with the RCMP to hire 100 more officers, which Leader Carla Beck says is something Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party promised, but didn’t deliver on. This is alongside the NDP’s previous announcement that it would cancel the Marshals Service and would reinvest that money into hiring at least 100 more offices into local police services.
Beck says she has heard from countless families that they are worried about community safety. She states, “Saskatchewan now has the worst violent crime rates in Canada.”
The NDP’s safety platform includes hiring more frontline officers to crack down on violent crime, launching an Unexplained Wealth Taskforce to target organized crime and drug traffickers, initiating a $2 million rebate program for security updates like alarms and doorbell cameras, and investing more money in mental health and addictions services.
