The Regina Pats were 33 seconds away from winning at SaskTel Centre over the Saskatoon Blades for the first time since Connor Bedard was still playing for them!
Alas, the Bridge City Bunch prevented that from happening, recording a 4-3 overtime triumph Tuesday night. It looked like the Queen City Kids were going to snap a five-game head-to-head losing streak to the Blue and Gold and a five-game run of futility at SaskTel Centre, in front of 3,164 fans, only to have Tyler Parr force extra time by bunting a rebound out of mid-air past Regina goaltender Kelton Pyne with 33.3 seconds remaining in the third period and the Blades’ net empty for an extra attacker. Then in O-T, goaltender Logan Cunningham – making his Saskatoon debut – stopped two close-in Pats’ chances before Brandon Lisowsky (pictured) scored off a 2-on-1 rush with David Lewandowski at 3:37 of the fourth frame to improve the Bridge City Bunch’s record to 7-1-1 and extend their dominant streaks over Regina. It was Lisowsky’s first goal in three games since returning to the Blue and Gold from Toronto pro camps. Rowan Calvert and Ben Riche also tallied for the Blades, who out-shot the Pats 29-26. Saskatoon heads out for two games in Alberta this week – Thursday in Edmonton against the Oil Kings and a Saturday visit to the Red Deer Rebels. Following are audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Dan Da Silva, Lisowsky and Cunningham plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
