The current Co-Executive Director and CEOs of Remai Modern will remain at the helm until mid-2030, with their contract renewed.
Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh joined the art museum in mid-2020.
A news release from the Remai Modern board says in the last four years under Burns and Lundh there have been impactful changes such as moving to admission by donation and partnering with Hearth restaurant.
They were able to move to admission by donation because of a $10 million commitment from lead patron, Mrs. Ellen Remai to support the initiative for 20 years.
Board Chair, Doug Matheson, says there has also been tremendous growth, both in visitation and self-generated revenue, which has contributed to break-even budgets.
Last year, 213,000 people visited the Remai Modern, which is about 48,000 more than its benchmark year, 2019.
It is expected 2024 will be another record-breaking year.
