It was an ol’ fashioned goaltenders’ duel Saturday night in Red Deer with Chase Wutzke and the Rebels getting the better of Evan Gardner and the Saskatoon Blades by a final score of 2-1.
Wutzke, a product of Debden, Saskatchewan, and a fifth round pick of the Minnesota Wild in this past summer’s N-H-L Draft, made 30 saves while Gardner, a second round selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets four months ago, made 33 stops. All the scoring came in the opening 25 minutes of the contest. It was the second time this season that the Bridge City Bunch had a four-game winning streak ended in the second game of a two-game road trip. Brandon Lisowsky notched his third goal in five games this season and the 124th goal of his Blue and Gold career, tying him with Ken Federko for 13th place on the Blades’ all-time goal-scoring list. The win improved Red Deer’s record to 6-3-1 while Saskatoon drops to 8-2-1. The Blades’ next action is a Wednesday home game against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Les Lazaruk’s Post-Game Show interview with head coach Dan Da Silva plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
