In an effort to make traveling more accessible and inclusive for all, the Saskatoon Airport has joined hundreds of other airports worldwide, and it has launched the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program.
Through the program, people with non-visible disabilities, such as respiratory conditions, cognitive dysfunction, or processing difficulties, can wear a complimentary green lanyard speckled with yellow sunflowers.
It subtly hints that its wearer may been in need of extra assistance or patience on their traveling journey. The green lanyards can be picked up at the information desk in the pre-security area of the main terminal.
In Saskatchewan, 27.7 per cent of adults report having a form of disability, and on a global scale, that’s one in every six people.
