The Saskatoon Police Service says due to a number of fires being reported, there is an increased police presence in the Mayfair neighbourhood. This includes the areas between 36th & 38th Street West between Avenue G and Avenue B North.

The public is asked to avoid the area or follow police instruction and if you witness any suspicious activity to contact police or call 9-1-1.

Since shortly after 1 a.m. this morning there appears to have been eight fires that police responded to in conjunction with the fire department. That includes at 19th and Avenue H, Idylwyld Drive North and 23rd Street, Avenue B and 31st, two fires in the 1500 block of Avenue F North with one called in at 9:22 a.m. and another at 9:46 a.m.in addition to a fire reported at Witney Avenue and 22nd, one in the 3000 block of Diefenbaker Drive.
