A 20-year-old woman from Pelican Lake First Nation has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 24-year-old man.

On Monday, at 6:00 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a report of an assault on the first nation.

Officers found a man with serious injuries, and he was later declared dead by EMS at the scene. The man was identified as Ryikis Bill from Pelican Lake First Nation. The suspect’s name is Zelda Bill, and RCMP say the two were known to one another.

The woman was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court today. The investigation continues.
