Miracle on 34th Street is a Christmas classic movie and now you can see it live on the Persephone Theatre stage December 4th through 22nd. All of the actors are from Saskatchewan, except Santa Claus.
Jonathon Pickrell is playing a few different roles in the play including Thomas Mara, the prosecutor in the court case against Kris Kringle. Pickrell is from Saskatoon and grew up as a theatre kid going to lots of Persephone plays so he considers it surreal to now be on stage at his hometown theatre. He suggests those that come to the play will see a very funny show. “A very heartfelt show, one that’s very high energy. Miracle on 34th, I think is a classic for a reason. It’s a feel good, uplifting play for the whole family.” Pickrell says the message of Miracle on 34th Street is believing in the impossible, and in this case, believing in Santa Claus, or at the very least, what he represents – spreading joy and love for your fellow humans and the idea that a small act of kindness can make a miracle happen.
