A renowned actor and founder of a Parkinson’s research foundation has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
Michael J. Fox was recognized for his determination to change the future for millions living with Parkinson’s. Since it was founded 25 years ago, The Michael J. Fox Foundation has become the world’s largest non-profit funder of Parkinson’s research, spending more than $2 billion on high-impact research programs.
President Biden awarded the medal to 18 other honorees, as well, including leaders in sports, entertainment, civil rights, fashion, science and philanthropy.
