Saskatoon Police responded just after 4 Friday afternoon to a restaurant in the 1400 block of 22nd Street West about a person inside threatening people while wielding a machete. The suspect and three others left before officers arrived. Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit arrested four people matching the suspect’s description near Avenue O and 21st Street West. Police report that one of them had a machete in his waistband, which was seized. A 17-year-old boy is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
In the early morning hours on Saturday, Saskatoon Police responded to a report of an injured person at an apartment in the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive. A news release from the Police Service says a 21-year-old woman was found suffering from a stab wound. She was transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located the suspect still in the apartment building. He was arrested and police say he had a knife as well as a bag with ammunition and cocaine. The 17-year-old is facing charges that include aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of cocaine.
A 25-year-old man is facing five firearms-related offences and breach of probation in connection to a Saskatoon Police investigation, which began Sunday night around 8 when officers responded to a weapons call at an apartment building in the 1700 block of 22nd Street West.
Everyone inside the suite was taken into custody. No one was injured. Police report that two loaded, sawed-off shotguns were found inside and seized.
