Because of a water main break at Saskatoon’s Court of King’s Bench, a sentencing hearing was cancelled on Wednesday for two people who recently pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Megan Gallagher. Summer Sky Henry and Cheyann Peeteetuce were originally charged with first-degree murder. Their judge-only trial began January 6th. Megan Gallagher was last seen by her family in September of 2020, but her body wasn’t found until two years later when her remains were found near St. Louis.  The sentencing hearing has been rescheduled to begin February 6th.

Nine people were charged in Gallagher’s death, but Robert Tyler John’s charges of unlawful confinement and aggravated assault were stayed.
Robert Thomas pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder and was sentenced to life in jail. John Sanderson, Jessica Badger, and Ernest Whitehead pleaded guilty to indignity to human remains. Two others are still going through the court system. Robert Sutherland is charged with first degree murder and Thomas Sutherland is charged with manslaughter.
