Meewasin CEO Andrea Lafond is joining Nature Conservancy Canada as their Regional Vice President of Saskatchewan, which has left an opening at the Meewasin Valley Authority.
A news release from Meewasin says Mike Velonas has been appointed the interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.
As Planning and Conservation Manager, Velonas has been responsible for oversight of development review, Meewasin’s Act, planning and development policies and bylaws among other responsibilities.
He thanks Andrea for her leadership over the last seven years, and says, “I know she and I both feel that not only is Meewasin our region’s greatest asset, but the future for this organization is incredibly exciting.
He begins as interim CEO on February 22nd.
