The City of Prince Albert says a new overnight warm-up location is open every night. The City was approved for a one-time grant of $150,000 to provide additional services for Prince Albert’s homeless community during the winter of 2024-2025, including access to warm space overnight.
The Meeting Place has been active since the end of December and to date has provided a safe and warm space to more than 160 individuals. There is onsite security which includes regular patrols in and outside the building ensure the safety of clients, staff, and community members. There is a visible police presence with enhanced overnight patrols.
In a true community effort, the City of Prince Albert has been working with the Salvation Army and The Safe Shelter for Women. There has been additional support from the Riverbank Development Corporation and Métis Nation Saskatchewan so upgrades could be made that improves building accessibility.
The warm-up location will operate nightly until April.
