A couple of “seconds” against the Saskatoon Blades were enough to give the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 2-0 victory Tuesday night.

For the second time this season, Jackson Unger posted a clean sheet by stopping 29 Bridge City Bunch shots while Chase Petersen tallied what turned out to be the winning goal in the first period, his second of the campaign and both against the Blue and Gold. The result clinched an Eastern Conference playoff spot for the 35-19-3 Canes for a ninth straight season. Saskatoon product and Lethbridge defenceman Logan McCutcheon assisted on Petersen’s goal and added a short-handed marker in what was likely the last game the 20-year-old would play at SaskTel Centre. The Blades were oh-for-6 on the power play and are 1-for-17 on the man advantage over their last five games. The loss dropped Saskatoon’s record to 30-19-7 and kept their Magic Number to clinch a post-season berth at seven points. The Bridge City Bunch are off until the weekend when they visit Moose Jaw Saturday and host Edmonton on Sunday.
