March is Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month to give students an opportunity to connect with agriculture through presentations by industry volunteers.
In Saskatchewan, Agriculture Minister Daryl Harrison says, “Connecting our youth to Saskatchewan agriculture, and increasing their understanding and appreciation of it is an important component of strengthening the entire sector in many ways.” He explains that presentations help educate children about what goes into producing the high-quality food that our province is renowned for. A government news release says all levels of food production are engaging with students across the province and this year’s theme is ‘Saskatchewan Agriculture: How Food Connects the World’.
