Saskatoon Police arrested three people over the weekend in connection to bear spray incidents. On Friday morning, a patrol officer witnessed a fight around 3rd Avenue North and 23rd Street East downtown and learned that bear spray had been deployed. A group was detained and police report a can of bear spray being found. A 34-year-old is charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, along with carrying a concealed weapon and breach of conditions.
Then Saturday evening around 9, police responded to 20th Street and Avenue B South where officers were told a bus driver had been sprayed. Suspects were found a short distance away. A 15-year-old girl was found with a can of bear spray and police report she resisted arrest. Her charges include two counts each of assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon, as well as one count each of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest.
Sunday night around 9:30, police were told bear spray had been deployed in a transit bus in the 200 block of 23rd Street East. When officers arrived, the suspects were seen fleeing. A 14-year-old boy is reported to have had a can of bear spray. He is charged with assault with a weapon and mischief.
