A member of the Regina Police Service has been charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer, following an RPS investigation. A news release from the Police Service says Sergeant Robert Eric Semenchuck is accused of accessing their internal databases for a non-work purpose and using the information to pursue personal relationships.
In early 2023, a member of the public brought their concerns to the police. Semenchuck was then suspended and his access to all police databases was removed. After extensive police investigation and consultation with Crown Prosecution, Semenchuck, who is an officer with 22 years of service, was charged last Tuesday. He appears in Regina Provincial Court on April 22nd.
The RPS Professional Standards Section, who led the investigation is asking anyone with additional information to contact them.
