With the forecast for intermittent snow and/or freezing rain beginning Thursday morning, along with a blustery east wind, the City of Saskatoon’s road crews are ready. That’s according to a news release from the City, which notes that when it comes to the roads, there will be blowing snow and reduced visibility, making driving challenging, especially on open roads and bridges. Open roads are particularly vulnerable to snow drifting with some streets getting deep drifts. The City advises not to drive through them if possible. When the visibility improves, crews will clear them with graders and plows.
Freezing rain is also in the forecast, which means icy roads and longer stopping distances. If you see snowplows or sanding trucks with their blue and amber flashing lights, give them room to work. Stay well back, avoid passing, and drive with caution around snow-clearing equipment.
